Very well written. There's a lot of information about the different methods used for composting and examples for when they are most appropriate. Everything is laid out in a very straightforward way with lots of great examples of how to start in what types of situations. There is also a quick troubleshooting section towards the end. I like that there are many specifics given about what to add and when. I felt like I was having a conversation about composting, rather than reading a how-to book.Product details

This is the perfect beginners book on composting. The author does into great detail on how to successfully create your own, homemade compost. The book is clearly written and informative. Lots of valuable advice for the compost newbie!
While this guide is by no means comprehensive, it IS one of the more well-written and organized of the free informational publications I've purchased on . It will certainly provide enough tips and ideas for someone to start getting their feet wet in the world of composting. I would recommend to a beginner, but if you have a year or two of experience, it might be a bit too basic. Overall, however, great stuff.
I had no idea that there are so many different ways to compost organic waste. A brilliantly researched and written guide, full of information. I will make a point from now on to utilize my garden and kitchen waste and experiment a bit with the various methods, but I think I'll give the grub composting in the bedroom a miss for the time being.
Wow - did I ever learn a lot about composting reading this book! I bought this book thinking I would start composting this summer while I am off and the kids and I could learn about it - now I am hooked. Especially love the handy list on what you can compost. Thanks!
I didn't realize there were so many ways to compost! When I was a kid we used to have the big "open pile" hidden in the back of the yard that you never wanted to get too close to because it REEKED! Marsden's guide show you how to do it that way, or quicker and more cleanly. Great guide for however you want to do it.
i have been gardening for many years and have done some composting buy nit to a large degree. This book has given me many ideas on composting that I had not thought could be done.
The book is well written and starts off by explaining just what composting is and moves on to a variety of types of composting. After reading this book you should be ready to give any kind of composting a try that you desire.

The title of this book is right - it certainly is the complete composting guide for beginners. We've just bought a big house with a huge garden and I thought I'd look into starting a compost heap (my brother-in-law does it), and this book gives me everything I was looking for. Some really fun info too (eyebrow raised). Anyone who is just starting out really should have this book as a reference - it is chock full of information you don't even know exists about composting. I'm especially glad I got it for the trouble shooting guide, no doubt I'll be needing it lol.
