Elementals Water, Earth, Fire and Air are only the beginning. Elementals support everything from Darkness to Time, secretly maintaining the processes of nature. Only now the Elementals are nearly extinct. Two years ago, the Air House released a plague that killed ninety percent of them. With their society in chaos and so many of their kind dead, they can’t find their Phase-Matches; the other halves of themselves. Without Matches they can’t have any more children and, without the Elementals, the world will end. Again.
Ty Ty, Queen of the Water House is having a bad couple of years. Her lunatic ex-Match keeps trying to kidnap her, most of the Elementals still blame her for the Fall, she has crippling panic attacks, and she’s being forced to attend group counseling in the human realm. When Gion, of the Air House shows up and demands sanctuary in the Water Kingdom, Ty doesn’t know what to think. Gion makes her nervous. He’s too cold, too powerful, and too intense. His only hobbies seem to be scowling and killing people. Except, when Ty looks into his eyes, she feels a… connection.
Gion The most infamous assassin in the Elemental realm, Gion, of the Air House has spent his entire life being ostracized and feared. There’s a price on his head, everyone in the universe hates him, and he’s been exiled from his homeland. Gion’s tired and all he wants is Ty. For eleven years, he’s secretly been in love with the Water Queen and he’s done with hiding his feelings. His goal now is to somehow make a place for himself in the exasperatingly pastel Water Palace and to claim Ty for himself. Unfortunately, there are a few problems with his plan including the fact that Ty is terrified of him, the eccentric Water Phases keep trying to make him watch reality shows, and there are still many, many people who want Ty and Gion dead.
Book three of The Elemental Phases.
Exile in the Water Kingdom The Elemental Phases Book 3 edition by Cassandra Gannon Paranormal Romance eBooks
Gion is basically my favorite bad guy turned good, he is a really misunderstood and vulnerable guy who hides behind a lot of snark and a cape. Ty is near and dear to me because I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks, I could really relate to her character and seeing her try to work through that just to function everyday I just had a lot of empathy for. when Gion is reading books about her condition just to help understand her better I mean how Incredibly romantic. I could go on and on about Gion and Ty they are such a perfect couple to me because they learned from each other and grew stronger as people together. Cassandra had the ability to create these amazing characters that have so much depth to them that it’s so easy to get immersed in their world. Can’t say enough good things about this series and this author, you can’t go wrong with literally any of her books, a truly phenomenal author.Product details

Exile in the Water Kingdom The Elemental Phases Book 3 edition by Cassandra Gannon Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews
I did like the story. Ty & Gion have great chemistry & dialogue together. Because there is so much going in though, there is a lot if summarizing & thinking--which does make this more of a stand-alone story, but after reading the first 2 books I ended up skimming a fair amount of the narration.
I am kind if curious about the next book, but this series is feeling a bit formulaic with the super-powerful man who loves a curvy, but much less powerful woman & one more layer of magic tacked on to everything else that is threatening their love.
The characters are great, there is a lot of work spent on the plot, but based on the first 3 books I don't think I'd be in for anything new if I kept reading.
So I was trolling on trying to find a book to read and stumbled upon this book and decided to try it, I was immediately hooked! It was tense, humourous, sad all the good things needed in a romance. I immediately bought the rest in the series!!
Great story. Read it two times because I enjoyed it so much. The Elementals is an excellent series though each book stands on its own.
I. Loved. This. Book.
I knew I would love this book.
Cassandra started dropping bits of Gion and Ty early on and its my very favorite kind of story. Gion is awesome through and through, even when he's bad. Especially when he's bad. He's snarky and I like it. And Ty coming out of her shell was great. I love that she did it for him. I love how *much* Gion loves Ty. Cassandra really makes you feel it. This one swept me up and I was as giddy coming out of it as I was going in--Cassandra delivered. This was one of my favorites in the series!
I'm new to Cassandra Gannon, but after I enjoyed Love in the Time of Zombies (by her sister?), I picked up Beast in Shining Armor based on a forum rec. I loved Beast and moved on to the Elemental Phases series. Exile in the Water Kingdom is a GOOD story with solid characterization and creative world-building. Gion is appropriately moody and dangerous; Tritone is likable, nerd-spunky, and sweet. But the book is so darn long--over 500 pages. First I was totally enthralled, and then I found myself becoming bored. I started scanning pages of unnecessary dialogue and inner monologue from many, many characters. Our main duo covers the same emotional ground multiple times, which is fine because I like them, but it still slowed the story arc. Example--Ty, Gion, and her brother go back and forth forever about knocking down historic buildings for security reasons. I get it, they banter, she's sensitive and he's practical but devoted--what's next?
And Gannon included many points of view. There are chapters from the POV of reptilian Kingu, various members of Ty's family and friends, Isaacs, the grief-crazed Chason, and the evil and ego-crazed Air king. So much bwahahaha-villainy, especially from the Air king! The story could have been cut by 50, maybe even 100 pages. Some chapters felt like the sales-pitch for another book/character or even chapters from another character's book!
I will stick with this series a little bit longer in the hope that Gannon's writing will get meaner and leaner. I really want to learn more about Kingu the lizard-god-thing-man. I may skip right to his book.
This is one of my favorite books ever. Gion and Ty are absolutely wonderful together. If you like an antihero, or a sort of villainous and/or partially reformed hero, or an incredibly smart and strong heroine, this book is for you. I also recommend reading the rest of the series, especially the two previous books, to fully grasp the plot and characters.
This is one of those stories I keep returning to. The pairing of seeming opposites of smart quirky Ty with the 'Darth Vader' Gion was delicious! So much humor and fun. I actually fell in love with all the characters. When is Tharsis going to get his own happily ever after?
I initially was reluctant to start the Elementals series. Ilona Andrews blog raved about how incredible the Kingpin of Camelot was (same author, different series). I read that one and loved it and Wicked Ugly Bad (another favorite reread). But the idea of Elementals living in a different world and having to find matches among the humans to survive sounded bizarre. But I took a chance on the first book, and to my surprise was immediately addicted. The Elementals are absolutely hilarious and easy to attach to! So if you haven't tried the series yet, please go for it! My only complaint is that I want more!
